Turn Back the Clock With the Anti-Aging Icon™ laser by Cynosure®

A healthy diet, proper hydration, and regular exercise can keep you looking healthier and younger for longer, but healthy habits do have their limitations.

After the age of 30, your collagen and elastin production starts dropping, leaving your skin a bit more rigid and less elastic every year. However, the Icon™ laser by Cynosure® does what lifestyle changes alone can’t do: fight aging by tapping into your body’s self-defense mechanisms.

The pulsated light generated by the Icon laser can be used to treat age spots, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, scars, broken capillaries, rosacea, and stretch marks.

Dr. Gail Zimmerman uses the Icon laser by Cynosure to rejuvenate skin. Read on to learn how laser technology works and to find out who’s the perfect candidate for the treatment.

Boost collagen and elastin production

Serums, creams, and various topicals can’t stimulate collagen and elastin production, despite the big promises many advertisers make. But Icon laser therapy can stimulate collagen and elastin production by taking advantage of a naturally-occurring process: skin healing.

When the intense light penetrates the surface of your skin, your body perceives this as an injury and rushes to the site with growth factors, collagen, and elastin to repair the damage.

This enables you to get more collagen and elastin to your problem areas without having to rely on external sources that your skin cells can’t use.

What to expect during the treatment

The Icon laser treatments are done on an outpatient basis. Dr. Zimmerman performs your non-invasive treatment while you lie down comfortably in a private room at her clinic.

Pain is minimal, and the session takes 45-50 minutes to complete. After the treatment, Dr. Zimmerman may recommend some topicals to minimize skin sensitivities.

Get more noticeable results with less downtime

Lasers are known for causing flaky skin, sensitivities, and swelling for days, even weeks at a time. However, our patients recover from the Icon laser treatment within just one to three days after the visit.

Many patients see noticeable results after the first session, but to get the best out of the Icon laser, you may need three or more consecutive treatments spaced four to five weeks apart. To maintain the results, you can opt for touch-ups every six months.
